Journey Through Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe, formerly known as Southern Rhodesia is a landlocked country in the south of Africa between the Zambezi and Limpopo rivers. Zimbabwe has three official languages: English, Shona and Ndebele. Zimbabwe has a total population of 12 million.

President Robert Mugabe is the head of State and Commander in Chief of the armed forces. He has been in power ever since the country's war for independence. He was initially going to improve the standards of living and the economy but his rule has been characterized by gross economic mismanagement, hyperinflation, and reports of human rights abuses. The economy has collapsed, the health system has collapsed and poverty is widespread over the nation.  And it is because of all this that Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai agreed to share power with Mugabe in late 2008.
