 Bristol began its course to winning the Bowl Final on a wrong footing, losing to Grenoble 5-12 before they bounced back with a 31-12 win over Zambia. They then lost to Zimbabwe by 12-14 in a match that scrummed-off at 4pm. After the group games, Grenoble bid the 2009 Tusker Safari Sevens farewell in the Plate Semi-final stage losing 19-21 to Raiders, while Tom Mitchell was Bristol’s hero, scoring the only try in their 5-0 win over the Les Bleus Sevens in the Bowl Final.
